What is the best Harry Potter movie?
Back to question

The Order of the Phoenix has the best battle and villain

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has the best villain: Dolores Umbridge and the best battle scene. The fight scene in the Ministry of Magic is the most incredible battle sequence in the series. Amongst, this darkness it manages to show the power of love and unity.

The Argument

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was the first movie directed by David Yates who would go on to direct the rest of the series.[1]This film has a darker tone as it shows the reality of corruption and war. The corruption can be seen by Crouch and the Ministry denying the return of Voldemort, the Daily Prophet smearing Harry, and Dolores Umbridge. Umbridge is one of the series' best villains. While Voldemort is much eviler, Umbridge’s villainy is much more relatable. Her evil is made acceptable by bureaucracy. She slowly reveals just how evil she is all while pretending that she is good. The audience fumes at the injustice and celebrates Harry being vindicated. Another new introduction is Bellatrix Lestrange, who is a sinister villain. Helena Bonham Carter’s Bellatrix is even more crazed than in the book. Her deranged laughter and running through the hallways shouting in a sing-song voice “I killed Sirius Black!” is haunting. Bellatrix makes an incredibly entertaining villain. The Order of the Phoenix also has the best battle scene. Starting with the Death Eaters vs. the Order of the Phoenix and Dumbledore’s Army which was dramatic and full of suspense; ending with the battle we have all been waiting for: Dumbledore vs. Voldemort. This showdown was as exciting as it was visually stunning. The film is not entirely dark. It does a wonderful job of showing the power of love and unity. Dumbledore’s Army and the Order of the Phoenix both serve as wonderful forums for our favorite characters to come together.

Counter arguments

The Order of the Phoenix is the longest book and one of the shortest films. This discrepancy results in the story feeling rushed.[2] This film ended up feeling like a transition film. Its purpose seemed to be to set up the war that is coming in the next films.
