Cedric Herring is Professor of Sociology and Public Policy in the Language, Literacy, and Culture Doctoral Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Dr. Herring is former national President of the Association of Black Sociologists. He was the founding Director of the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He publishes on topics such as race and public policy, diversity, stratification and inequality, and jobs and economic development. He has published eight books and more than 75 scholarly articles. His most recent books are Diversity in Organizations: A Critical Examination and Reinventing Race, Reinventing Racism. He has received support for his research from the National Science Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, the Joyce Foundation, and others.
