““Once someone pays their debt to society, they’re out there expected to pay taxes, they’re expected to abide by the law, they’re expected to support themselves and their families. I think that means they’ve got a right to vote. While they’re still incarcerated, I think it’s a different question. And I think that’s something that we could have more conversation about.””
“2020 is the most important election of our lifetime. Americans should not be forced to choose between voting and staying safe from the virus this November.”
“Protecting the right of a woman to be able to make decisions about her own body is fundamentally what we do and what we stand for as a Democratic Party.”
“There is way too much consolidation now in giant industries in the country . That hurst workers. It hurst small businesses. It hurts independent farmers. It hurts our economy overall. And it helps constrict real innovation overall and growth in this economy”
“Her commitment to putting power into the hands of the people is forged in fire. “The FDA has taken a number of steps to address the issue of antibiotic resistance, but with two million Americans developing antibiotic-resistant infections every year, it's clear that more work needs to be done. One way to approach this is to reduce the overuse of antibiotics in animals.”
“There is a huge difference between the guns of a sportsman or homeowner and high- powered assault weapons with 100- cartridge magazines. I grew up around guns and gun owners, and I will work to protect the rights of law-abiding citizens. But the law must reflect the reality that, in the wrong hands, guns can be used for violent crimes, making neighbourhoods less safe”
“There is nobody in this country who got rich on their own. Nobody. You built a factory out there - good for you. But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on roads the rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate. You were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory... Now look. You built a factory and it turned into something terrific or a great idea - God bless! Keep a hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.”
